CORPUS CHRISTI - Officers conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle driving without headlights arrested two men for possession of crack cocaine. The 1992 Chrysler New Yorker, driven by 53-year-old Moises Munguia (aka Moises Mungia), was pulled over near the intersection of Arlington Drive and Blanco Court around 3:00 a.m.
Police tell us one officer was keeping an eye on the passenger, 34-year-old Jose Reyna, who allegedly threw a baggy with a large crack cocaine rock onto the floorboard. Both men denied the baggy was theirs when an officer pointed out the 41.03 grams of cocaine.
An officer also seized $1,200 in cash that was in Reyna's possesion. Reyna is charged with possession of a controlled substance and for an outstanding warrant for not having auto insurance.
Munguia is charged with possession of a controlled substance and was cited for driving without lights and failure to display a driver's license.
Munguia has a lengthy criminal history for multiple burglaries, auto burglaries, drug possession and evading arrest. Back in August 2007, we reported on Munguia's arrest following a police chase. Mungia and his nephew were accused of breaking into several cars during a funeral, as well as cars at a mall and an apartment complex.
More recently he was arrested in January 2011 for allegedly breaking into a coin operated machine outside a restaurant.
