LUBBOCK - A federal judge in West Texas will hear evidence and arguments on the mental competency of a Saudi man accused of trying to make a weapon of mass destruction.
Attorneys for Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari and prosecutors go before U.S. District Judge Sam Cummings on Tuesday.
If the defendant is found competent, his trial is scheduled to begin April 30 in Lubbock.
Court documents allege the U.S. college student planned to attack various American targets, including sites in New York City and former President George W. Bush's home in Dallas.
Aldawsari has pleaded not guilty. His attorney has served notice that he'll use an insanity defense.
