CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Corpus Christi IceRays won their fourth game in a row taking out the Texas Tornado 4-1 during a fight-filled game in front of 4,387 fans inside the American Bank Center.
Corpus Christi took the lead over Texas midway through the first period as Joe Ginley took a drop pass and beat Joakim Jutras to take a 1-0 advantage over the Tornado 10:13 into period one.
The IceRays led 1-0 after 20 minutes, however the Tornado tied the game on the power-play courtesy of Jordan Lovick who beat Anthony Stolarz top shelf tying the game 1-1.
The IceRays picked up a power-play goal for themselves on a two man advantage. Beau Walker took a shot and Perry D'Arrisso fired it in electrifying the crowd as Corpus Christi took a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes of action.
Starting the third period Michael Dery wrapped a puck around the back of the net beating Jutras 5:04 into the third period increasing the lead 3-1.
Joe Smereck capped off the scoring 7:16 into the final period with goal number eight on the season. Things got physical as Perry D'Arrisso got jumped starting an all-out brawl that resulted in 77 penalty minutes.
Anthony Stolarz stopped 33 of 34 shots as the IceRays won their fourth straight game.
