CORPUS CHRISTI - The speed limit on Interstate 37 north of Corpus Christi city limits is now 75 miles per hour.
Texas Department of Transportation crews were putting signs in place this morning past Labonte Park. Please slow down if you see a work crew.
For now, TxDOT does not plan on increasing the speed limit from 70 to 75 mph on I-37 closer to town.
The changes were enacted by the state legislature and Gov. Perry last year affecting close to 1,500 miles of Texas Interstate Highways and some State Highways in Central Texas.
Keep in mind the increase speed limit is only in effect in a specific area if TxDOT has changed the signs.
