From Player to Coach Back to Player - Justin Quenneville Lives on the Ice

CORPUS CHRISTI - Justin Quenneville was born to play hockey. Growing up in Canada it was just a way of a life, and now nearly 30 years later it's still his life.
While most now know "Q" as the IceRays Head Coach, we still remember him as arguably the franchises best forward. Quenneville still holds team records for scoring and assists spending four seasons roaming the ice in Corpus Christi during the CHL days.
While as a head coach he has his NAHL team playing pretty good hockey, this of course is his first season in charge and already he has made a splash earning the honor of being named Head Coach for the upcoming 18-U Select Team at the Top Prospects Tournament.
"I'm honored just to be named and considered is a great honor," said Quenneville.
"He has great patience and loves to teach and they have learned a lot from him," added General Manager Pat Dunn.
But what you might not know is that despite retiring from playing two years ago Quenneville still suits up at night, only playing a different position in a different league.
"Last year I got a call from the men's hockey league commissioner and he said needed someone last second to play goalie," said Quenneville.
It was something jumping moving from Forward to Goalie and his opponents say he's pretty good.
"I went out there and for the first 20 minutes of the game nobody knew who I was, then I took of my mask and they were like you are a legitimate goalie, I just tried to imitate them," added Quenneville.
He went onto say that for him playing with friends and former teammates is a great release from the daily grind that is Junior League Hockey.
