SEATTLE, WA - The Seattle Seahawks have inked first-year linebacker Tressor Baptiste to a three-year "Reserve/Futures" contract.
Baptiste was one of eight free agent linebackers that worked out for the team on October 17, but was not offered a contract.
He was undrafted out of Texas A&M-Kingsville, but signed by the Chicago Bears in July. Baptiste had three tackles and a pass defensed in four preseason games before he was waived at the end of training camp.
The 6-foot, 230-pound linebacker began his college career at Lackawanna Community College (Pennsylvania) before transferring to Hofstra in 2009. The Pride dropped football after Baptiste's only season with the program, forcing him to transfer to a Division II school. In 12 games at Texas A&M-Kingsville, Baptiste recorded 66 tackles, including eight for a loss and a share of a quarterback sack, with two passes defensed and three forced fumbles.
